JIWE is committed to maintaining rigorous academic standards through a double-blind peer review process.

Review Workflow

1. Initial Screening
Submissions are first evaluated by the Handling Editor for relevance to the journal’s scope, adherence to submission guidelines (format, layout, number of words), originality, and ethical compliance (including similarity check and AI screening).

2. Double-Blind Review
Manuscripts that qualify are subjected to the reviewing process by at least two reviewers. The authors and the reviewers do not know each other's identities.

3. Evaluation Criteria
Reviewers assess manuscripts based on:
- Novelty and contribution to the field
- Technical soundness and methodology
- Clarity and structure
- Relevance to informatics and web engineering

4. Editorial Decisions
Based on reviewer feedback, the editorial team may decide to:
- Accept the manuscript
- Request minor or major revisions
- Reject the manuscript

The typical review duration is 6–12 weeks, subject to reviewer availability and submission complexity.

5. Revisions
Authors may be asked to revise their manuscripts and resubmit them. Revised submissions may undergo further peer review.

Final Decision.

The Handling Editor/Editor-in-Chief makes the final decision about the acceptance of a manuscript based on the critical comments of reviewers. The final decision about the manuscript is only based on the Editor's final review which considers peer-reviewers comments (but not limited to the Reviewer).

The Editor-in-Chief will publish the accepted articles, considering the order of the acceptance date and geographical distribution of authors along with thematic issue.
