Archiving Policy
Archiving Policy
- Introduction
Journal on Robotics, Automation and Sciences (IJORAS) is committed to the long-term preservation and permanent accessibility of the scholarly research it publishes. This ensures that all published content remains available to researchers, practitioners, and the wider academic community regardless of technical, institutional, or organizational changes.
- Description
Digital archiving refers to the series of processes and activities that ensure information of continuing value is identified, preserved, and made available to users over time. The primary aims of IJORAS's archiving strategy are:
- To ensure permanent and uninterrupted access to all published scholarly articles.
- To safeguard IJORAS's intellectual output against loss due to technical failures, natural disasters, or cessation of the journal's operations.
- Policy Details
IJORAS employs a multi-faceted approach to ensure the long-term preservation and accessibility of its content:
- Publisher-Managed Archiving and Website Access:
- All articles published in IJORAS are permanently available and accessible free of charge on the official journal website: https://journals.mmupress.com/index.php/ijoras
- The website and its content are regularly backed up as part of the IT infrastructure and data management policies of Multimedia University.
- Publisher-Institutional Repository
- All published content is also deposited and preserved in the Multimedia University Institutional Repository (MMUiR), ensuring redundancy and long-term access beyond the journal website.
- Malaysian Ministry official repositories
- IJORAS’s content is indexed, stored, and preserved in MyJurnal and MyCite/MySitasi, the official national repositories for scholarly publishing in Malaysia, which are maintained by the Ministry of Higher Education.
- Author Self-Archiving:
- IJORAS publishes all articles under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0) license. In accordance with this license, authors are permitted and encouraged to share the final published version (publisher’s PDF) of their article, provided that:
- The article is shared in full and unchanged.
- Proper attribution is given with a complete citation to the original publication in JIWE.
- A link to the article’s DOI on the JIWE website is included.
- The terms of the CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 license are respected.
- Persistent Identifiers (DOIs):
- All articles published in IJORAS are assigned a unique and persistent Digital Object Identifier (DOI). DOIs ensure reliable and continued access to the article's location on the internet, even if the URL structure of the journal website changes.
- Succession Plan / Cessation of Publication:
- In the unlikely event that IJORAS ceases publication, MMU Press, as the publisher, will take all necessary steps to ensure the continued preservation and accessibility of all previously published content. This includes ensuring that the content remains available through the Digital Common, and/or the Multimedia University institutional repository. Authors and readers will be informed of any such transition.
- Technicalities to Achieve and Materialise the Policies
- Publication Formats: IJORAS publishes articles in PDF format to ensure wide accessibility and usability. The source files (e.g., OJS XML) are also archived internally by the journal management system.
- Backup Procedures: Regular, automated backups of the IJORAS website and its entire content are conducted and managed by the IT services of Multimedia University.
- Collaboration with Archiving Services: IJORAS, through Multimedia University, maintains its commitment to Portico for comprehensive, long-term preservation.
This Archiving Policy will be reviewed periodically and updated as necessary to reflect changes in technology, best practices, and available preservation services. IJORAS is dedicated to ensuring that its contributions to the field of robotics, automation and sciences remain a lasting part of the scholarly record.
